TERMINOLOGY MANAGEMENT

Our Translation Project Manager will help the clients to build and maintain their own glossaries if they prefer specific terms to be used. Many companies prefer specific terms to be used to suit their in-house style, or, in the case of highly technical work, they provide a glossary to ensure that the precise meaning of the source text is conveyed. In these cases, Project Managers will help the client to build and maintain their own glossaries.

DTP & TYPESETTING

We can offer DTP (desk-top publishing) and typesetting services. The translation and the desk-top publishing teams work closely to ensure translated material is laid out accurately and checked thoroughly. This service gives you the convenience and peace of mind of having the complete production process carried out under the supervision of one project manager.

We are able to provide either electronic (PDF) or hard-copy proofs for your approval before sending the documents to print. The work can be done in a variety of formats, including QuarkXpress, PageMaker, Illustrator, Acrobat, PowerPoint, Word and other packages. The completed documents can be printed or, alternatively, we will liaise with your chosen printers to provide a seamless service.

LOCALISATION

Localisation is the process of adapting a product (eg. software) or copy to meet the cultural and other considerations (rather than just the language), of a specific target environment or market. The objective of a localised translation is to ensure that the copy relates to the culture of the market so that the text does not refer to concepts that do not exist in that country.

TRANSCRIPTION

Audio/video recordings of police and immigration interviews and conversations are transcribed by native speakers of the language concerned. If the transcription then requires translation, this will also be undertaken by a translator working into their mother-tongue.

CULTURAL CONSULTANCY

Business success, even in your own country, is often based upon your approach, but how do you know the appropriate approach to people who have grown up with a different set of attitudes and values from your own? There are many issues to be aware of when working with foreign languages and markets, such as how your product name might translate and whether your logo would be acceptable.

LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT

Our professionals can provide language assessment of candidates for companies recruiting specialists for the posts which require linguistic skills. The candidates will be expected to demonstrate not only a competent use of the language, but also to be acquainted with the political, economic and social economic systems of the country in question. Furthermore, it is important that they are familiar with the styles of public debate and negotiation in the particular culture.
